Marcelulose – Penumbra [DSRPTV006]

The sixth release of dsrptv rec, signed by Marcellulose, plunges deep into a dense ocean permeated by Dub Techno. The Penumbra EP is drenched with Noise, Drone Music and Industrial referenceS, reflecting the tense shared moment, without giving up the swing of torn drums, an urban mark of Marcelo’s productions. The three original tracks maintain a gloomy atmosphere, translating a feeling of anonymity experienced in the heavy daily city life. The use of the Turkish instrument Saz and a sample of Carlos Marighella’s interview on Havana radio stand out as elements that transcend the boundaries of the work. The remix signed by Nog4yra adds a percussive groove to the album, which offers greater potential to the dancefloor. The dsrptv crew takes on the dub environment, colors the album’s palette a little with their remix. Rollinos’ art surgically synthesizes the atmosphere of the EP through an anonymous mass in B&W, taken from a frame of the film ABC (1990). Finally, art remains strong as a way to face the challenges of our time.
